Sparck Technologies named to Supply & Demand Chain Executive’s SDCE 100 top supply chain projects for 2020
CVP Impack recognized for innovation and impact on the supply chain
Supply & Demand Chain Executive, the executive’s user manual for successful supply and demand chain transformation, has selected Sparck Technologies as a recipient of an SDCE 100 Award for 2020.
The SDCE 100 is an annual list that spotlights successful and innovative projects that deliver bottom-line value to companies across the supply chain. The list serves as a map for supply chain executives looking for new opportunities to drive improvement in their operations. It also showcases how supply chain solution and service providers help customers and clients achieve supply chain excellence.
Sparck Technologies was awarded the 2020 SDCE 100 Award for its project with Rue Gilt Groupe (RGG), an US e-commerce retailer. After tremendous growth due to an acquisition of “Rue La La” and ” Gilt “, RGG turned to Sparck Technologies’s CVP Impack Automated Packaging Solution in order to streamline the fulfillment process while reducing costs on transportation and labour. The CVP Impack provided RGG the opportunity to consolidate multiple brands into one packing process while still dynamically providing unique packaging for each brand in one seamless process. The auto-packing technology allowed for a reduction in procurement related to the multiple box sizes used. It also reduced the amount of labour required for carton erection as the CVP Impack only requires one operator for packing, sealing, weighing, labeling and sortation. In addition, by creating a fit-to-size box and removing the excess air, the CVP Impack improved RGG’s customers’ unboxing experience and eliminated the need for void fill material. This also reduced the volume for each order, greatly reducing transportation costs. As a result of the CVP Impack, RGG is averaging a 25-cent savings on each parcel and throughput has increased over 50 percent.
With this auto-boxing technology, we expect savings to be more than a half-million dollars in its first full year of operation.
Wells Brummer | Vice President Transportation and Supply Chain at Rue Gilt Groupe
“By the nature of explosive growth associated with the formation of RGG in July 2018, the company added the CVP Impack to its arsenal of customer enhancing and cost saving tools,” said Wells Brummer, vice president transportation and supply chain at Rue Gilt Groupe. “RGG required a solution that supported branding for multiple ecommerce websites, increased throughput and drove cost efficiencies in transportation, labour and supplies. We found that with the CVP Impack. With this auto-packing technology, we expect savings to be more than a half-million dollars in its first full year of operation. The icing on the cake has been nothing but positive NPS scores from our customers receiving their order in a box made by the CVP Impack.”
“We are honored to be recognized as one of the 2020 Supply & Demand Chain Executive SDCE 100 Top Supply Chain Project winners for our innovative automated packaging solution and our partnership with RGG,” said Sean Webb, Business Development Executive North America at Sparck Technologies. “Packaging is a vital department in every warehouse, but it can be time consuming and inefficient as it relates to labour and material costs.
