FittinQ Switches to Automated Packaging

FittinQ has implemented the CVP Impack packaging machine from Sparck Technologies (formerly Packaging by Quadient) in its central warehouse in Hapert. As a result, online orders at FittinQ Fulfillment are now fully automatically packaged in a custom-sized box. In addition to a more efficient operational process, a custom-sized box also means a reduction in shipping volume.
FittinQ is an e-commerce platform that handles fulfillment activities for online stores like Lampenlicht.nl and the interior brand QAZQA. With 31 webshops in 25 European countries, FittinQ's market is rapidly growing. The main goal is to achieve 100% ambiance coverage in Europe, making stylish ambiance lighting easily accessible to everyone by 2035. To realize this ambition, automation of the packaging process was necessary. Bas Lemmers, CEO of FittinQ, explains: "All orders were still mostly manually packaged, but to keep up with growth, this method was no longer sustainable."

Additional capacity was needed, which was found in the CVP Impack. This fully automated packaging solution from Sparck scans the dimensions of each order in 3D and then cuts a custom-sized box from a strip of continuous cardboard. The shipping box is then automatically folded around the order, sealed, and labeled for shipping. The packing process is significantly faster than manual packaging, and the system eliminates the frustration of online orders being packed in oversized boxes.
Sparck Technologies quote Richard Nijboer

Director Sales and Operations
at Sparck Technologies

"In the growing and international world of online orders, the focus on both efficient and sustainable packaging is increasingly important."

Sustainability

For FittinQ, the combination of sustainability, automation, and efficiency was crucial. Bas Lemmers: "The way orders are picked in our warehouse was recently partially automated, and a logical next step was to automate the packaging process. About 60% of the orders can be packed via the CVP Impack. This ranges from a single light bulb to an order with multiple recessed spotlights including light bulbs and everything in between."

Savings on Shipping Volume

Arnoud Koopmans, International Sales Manager at Sparck Technologies, is very pleased with the delivery of the CVP Impack to De Wit: “In the growing world of online orders, the focus on efficient and sustainable packaging is increasing. We are happy to help De Wit Schijndel achieve its growth ambitions.” The CVP Impack was put into operation in December 2021 at the central warehouse in Schijndel.

The CVP Impack was installed in mid-January 2021. The machine is equipped with a double input station to ensure maximum throughput speed. Both multi-item and single-item orders with a weight of up to 10 kg will be packaged.
