The distribution center of De Wit Schijndel has been expanded with a CVP Impack packaging system from Sparck Technologies. The installation is expected to make the packaging and shipping of the increasing number of online orders more sustainable and efficient.

The family business, established in Schijndel for over 70 years, offers a wide range of products focused on active outdoor living. With the implementation of the CVP Impack, De Wit is taking a new step in its ambition to become a leading player as Europe’s most comprehensive and sustainable retailer of outdoor and camping gear.

The Solution

Yvonne de Wit, owner and CEO of De Wit Schijndel, explains: “The traditional outdoor season is no longer limited to the summer months. With sports, camping, and garden products, we serve a broad market, experiencing peaks in orders throughout the year.” De Wit Schijndel also saw significant growth in the number of orders placed through its online shop. Yvonne de Wit adds: “To keep up with the growth, we had to carefully evaluate how to optimize our e-fulfillment.”

When dealing with a wide variety of products in large quantities, and with a focus on sustainability, a packaging machine is a good solution. This was found in the CVP Impack from Sparck Technologies in Drachten. This fully automated packaging solution measures the dimensions of each order in 3D and then cuts a custom-sized box from a strip of continuous cardboard. The shipping box is then automatically folded around the order, sealed, and prepared for shipping with a label.

“In the growing world of online orders, the focus on both efficient and sustainable packaging is increasingly important.”

Sustainable Packaging

Yvonne de Wit continues: “About 70% of the online orders can be packed using the CVP Impack. This makes the packing process much faster than manual packing, and the system also eliminates the frustration of online orders being packed in oversized boxes.” De Wit Schijndel expects to save around 35% on shipping volume, which not only reduces costs but also results in fewer trucks on the road.

More Efficient Packaging

Arnoud Koopmans, International Sales Manager at Sparck Technologies, is very pleased with the delivery of the CVP Impack to De Wit: “In the growing world of online orders, the focus on efficient and sustainable packaging is increasing. We are happy to help De Wit Schijndel achieve its growth ambitions.” The CVP Impack was put into operation in December 2021 at the central warehouse in Schijndel.
